Week 3 – Islam’s Role in Sustainability

 Week 3 – Islam’s Role in Sustainability

Environment

Islam teaches us to respect nature. We are caretakers (khalifah) of Earth, not owners. Wasting water, cutting down trees without purpose, and polluting the land are all discouraged. Even small acts like planting a tree is considered a good deed.

Society

Islam encourages fairness, community, and compassion. Concepts like shura (consultation) and amanah (trust) guide us to build strong, just societies. Helping others through zakat and supporting each other is a big part of this.

Economy

We learned that Islam promotes ethical economic practices. It encourages sharing wealth through zakat and waqf, bans interest (riba), and focuses on fairness and balance in all transactions.
